Semiahmoo Potters April 2026
The days are brightening and the flowers are beginning to show up around gardens giving our potters loads of inspiration. We had a very productive March where we welcomed Charmian Nimmo back into the studio to teach an all levels class on making sculptures on the 15th. On March 22nd one of our members, Sandy, ran a class for the public on making and decorating bowls using a hump mold. Our latest Open House on the 28th March also featured an informative skillshare, demonstration and discussion on the art of teapot construction which was lead by SPS member Suzanne.
In April many of our members are looking forward to a special Raku firing on the 11th and an Obvara & Naked Raku workshop with Riley Maguire from Shadbolt.
SPS supporters have several spring shopping opportunities to purchase locally made ceramics. Come to Crescent Park studio’s Open House on April 25th. Visitors can browse and purchase items from our in house gallery or just talk pottery with our members. This month one of our members,Ellen, will show us how to construct wind chimes. Please drop by between 10am and 1pm and see the action.
Our spring sale is also fast approaching. We’re holding it in the Turnbull Gallery at the South Surrey Arts and Recreation Centre on Saturday, May 2nd (10 a.m.- 5 p.m.) and Sunday, May 3rd (10 a.m.- 4 p.m.). We look forward to seeing you there.
